That's why the $500 grant from the RB Community Foundation is so important to the group, which doesn't receive grants from any other organizations, said Robin Kaufman, the council's president.

The council is "very appreciative" for the foundation's continuing support, she said.

The group's public safety committee has been particularly busy this year, hosting several workshops around the community in response to senior scams. The committee also recently partnered with San Diego City Councilwoman Marti Emerald for a at the RB Recreation Center that drew nearly 100 people.
