GALLERY: Fire-Gutted Vacant Home on Iowa Street in West Redlands at Dusk

The fire was reported early Tuesday July 31 in the 11000 block of Iowa Street and firefighters from Redlands and Loma Linda responded, a Redlands spokesman said.

A fire-gutted home that burned early Tuesday in west Redlands was deserted at dusk the same day, and the property was littered with burned refuse out back.

The vacant home is situated near pockets of citrus trees, just south of an east-west drainage ditch north of Orange Avenue. An aerial photo from before the fire showed the intact home in a semi-rural neighborhood.

The house was frequently used by transients, a city spokesman said Tuesday after the fire. Graffiti marked unburned exterior walls of the single-story home. It was not clear how along ago the home was abandoned by tenants or owners.
