Gas Prices Dip, But Not by Much

Gas prices have started to move downward, but don't celebrate just yet.

The dip in prices was very slight and remains high in most of region, say Southern California Automobile Club officials.

The average price of self-serve regular gas in the Inland Empire is $3.33, which is four-tenths of a cent lower than last week, 3 cents higher than last month and 32 cents more than last year, according to a automobile club news release.

“There are now only 10 states with gas price averages under $3 a gallon, so Southern California is not alone in feeling pain at the pump,” Auto Club spokesperson Jeffrey Spring said through a written statement. “The only other year when January prices were close to this high level was 2008, and on this date in 2008 they were almost 20 cents lower in most areas than they are today.”
