Groups Get Message Out on Tax Day

Members of the Redlands Tea Party Patriots and Occupy Redlands take to the street while others rush to send in their taxes.

While cars streamed their way into the San Bernardino Mail Processing Center in Redlands to send in their taxes Tuesday, the streets of Redlands were filled with political groups spreading their message.

On "peace corner" -- Orange Avenue and Redlands Boulevard -- the Redlands Tea Party Patriots covered all four points with signs decrying the Obama administration and for Republican candidates for the coming primary election. About 75 people spent part of their early evening spreading their economic message.

Meanwhile, about 20 members of Occupy Redlands took their message directly to the last-minute filers, by picketing outside the mail processing center. A steady stream of cars came in to file their taxes as members of the Redlands Police citizens' patrol helped direct traffic.
