Sobriety Checkpoint Friday in Redlands

Redlands police are planning a sobriety checkpoint Friday night and early Saturday in Redlands, a city spokesman announced Tuesday.
The grant-funded checkpoint is scheduled from 10:30 p.m. Friday Aug. 17 to 3 a.m. Saturday Aug. 18 on westbound San Bernardino Avenue between University and Church streets, Redlands spokesman Carl Baker said.
On Monday this week, Redlands police cited 16 drivers for failure to stop at stop signs druing traffic enforcement operation on State, Center, Church, California and San Mateo streets, San Timoteo Canyon Road, and San Bernardino and Pennsylvania avenues, Baker said.

Also on Monday, one driver was cited for failure to yield to a pedestrian and one for an illegal turn across a median. The grant-funded crackdown occurred between 5:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Aug. 13, Baker said.
Sobriety checkpoints and traffic enforcement operations in Redlands are funded in part by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
