Work in Loma Linda Requires Closure of Lane on Anderson, Sidewalk on Taylor
There were plenty of signs warning motorists and pedestrains of the closures, but Loma Linda is a bustling health care community and there is always concern for traffic flow.
Update 3:42 p.m. The Southern California Gas Company project on Anderson Street at Taylor Street involves installation of 800 feet of 8-inch-diameter gas line, a representative for the utility said.
The new line will eventually connect to an existing line on University Avenue, Gas Company spokeswoman Denise King said.
Posted 2:52 p.m. Work projects near one of Loma Linda's busiest intersections Monday required closure of one lane on Anderson Street and a sidewalk closure on Taylor Street.

One southbound lane was closed during the noon hour on the Anderson curve from University Court to Hill Drive. Ambulances, buses and big-rigs were able to navigate the closure without difficulty.
One block south, the sidewalk on the south side of Taylor Street was closed for work out front of the University Arts Building at 24887 Taylor.

A man in a wheelchair between noon and 1 p.m. appeared not to see one sidewalk closure sign on Taylor and safely made his way north across the street without mishap.
Eleazar Rubalcava with City of Loma Linda Public Works said in a phone interview the project is a Southern California Gas Company project to replace a gas line main on Anderson and on Taylor.
The 7-week project started about three weeks ago, Rubalcava said.
The Gas Company is responsible for signage on the project, and they are responsible for a traffic flow plan, Rubalcava said.
Perspective on the project from Southern California Gas Company was not immediately available. A representative for the Gas Company said a spokesperson would attempt to call Redlands-Loma Linda Patch back with details.
