The South Bay Film Society was created to bring the best of new foreign and independent films to the big screen in the South Bay. The Society screens films shortly after they play art house theaters in West Los Angeles, Santa Monica, and Pasadena and well before the films are available on DVD. They hold discussions after screenings and hope through these film events to foster connections and friendships between people in the South Bay interested in film and the arts. Tickets for these screenings are $9 and sell out very quickly. They are usually screened at AMC Rolling Hills 20 located at 2591 Airport Drive in Torrance. Tonight, Thursday, Feb. 28, they’ll be screening Rust & Bone, a Los Angeles Times and New York Times critics’ pick. Pre-sale seats have sold out but tickets are available at the door and these are limited to the two front rows of the theater. For more information and ticket purchase, visit the website at southbayfilmsociety.com.

Have you ever been to the Automobile Driving Museum (ADM)? Located at 610 L’airport Street in El Segundo, the ADM exists to preserve automotive history with an impressive, rotating collection of 130 classic, antique and historic cars on display. Several Southern California collector car clubs showcase their vehicles at the ADM and on any given weekend you can find collections of particular makes and models. But here’s the best part… Every Sunday, the ADM takes guests for a ride in three of their magnificent automobiles. This may be the only automotive museum in the world that offers such an opportunity. No more admiring from a distance. This is your chance to experience the thrill of riding in a piece of history. The ADM is a non-profit organization and offers a variety of ways for you to lend your support. A donation of $5 per adult is suggested and children are admitted free. The ADM is open Tuesday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. For more information, visit the website at automobiledrivingmuseum.org or call 310-909-0950.
