Blog: Matt Kilroy, the Human Wind Sock

You got to be kidding me?

Well, I suppose now I really have seen it all. Matt Kilroy, the man who at first approached the Yes on Measure A movement and claimed to be a friend, then came out against Measure A, has now flip-flopped again and is pretending to be Measure A's best friend buddy pal.

A few months ago, Kilroy even went so far as to stand alongside Eric Pendergraft in debates against measure A and its co-authors, Bill Brand and Jim Light. Kilroy prattled on about how Measure A would lead to lawsuits, ultimately bankrupting the city, and that he was taking a 'leadership' position by speaking out against it.

I would supplement these statements with audio/video clips; unfortunately, that forum forbid recording devices of any kind (I guess this is what Kilroy means by 'transparency' in government).

So now Kilroy has done another 180 and has cozied up to the Measure movement in what can only be described as  epic pandering for votes. What about his record says he will follow through on anything he says? The one thing that is guaranteed, when it comes to Kilroy, is that when it comes to the showdown, he won't be there.

Furthermore, I think this whole AES power plant debacle could be solved pretty easily; find out a way to harness all the hot air emanating from Kilroy and hook it up to a turbine. That should make up for all the energy lost after AES tucks its tail between its legs and heads back to the swamp from which it slithered out of. And that will come about because of the power of the people and another ballot initiative in two years, not because of Matt Kilroy, the human wind sock.
