Second Death Reported in Peninsula Crash, 2 Victims ID'd

BREAKING: A woman died at the scene of the crash and authorities now say a man has died from his injuries.

MENLO PARK, CA – An elderly man and woman both died as a result of a crash on I-280 this week, officials say. The woman died at the scene of the crash near Sand Hill Road, while the man died later at the hospital.

The duo, who were identified by the San Mateo County coroner's office as 83-year-old Gloria Cazanjian and 87-year-old Rudolph Cazanjian, were both from Los Altos.

According to CHP Officer Art Montiel, Rudolph Cazanjian was driving a 1998 Toyota north on the highway around 12:30 p.m. Wednesday.

"For unknown reasons, the driver allowed the Toyota to veer to the left where it collided with the center median causing the Toyota to overturn," Montiel said. "It appears the female passenger may have been unrestrained and was ejected from the Toyota."

Gloria Cazanjian was pronounced dead shortly after the wreck. Rudolph Cazanjian was taken to Stanford hospital, but died there later in the day. It's unclear if the duo were married.

Two northbound lanes on the highway were closed as CHP officers investigated the crash. The lanes reopened by about 3:20 p.m.

Montiel said alcohol and drugs do not appear to be factors in the crash. Anyone who may have information about the case is asked to call CHP Officer Evyn Roman at (650) 369-6261.
