Library News: Get Your E-Books, Book Sale, Awards and More

Latest news from the library — booksale, e-books and book award winners!

The Rohnert Park-Cotati Regional Library is hosting a book sale Feb. 3 and 4! Sponsored by the Friends of the Library, shoppers can find bargains galore at the winter book sale. Come check out our selection in the meeting room of the library, located at 6250 Lynne Conde Way. For sale will be non-fiction and fiction books, mysteries and science fiction, children’s books, sets of books, videos, DVDs, CDs and books on tape.

Sale hours are: Friday, Feb. 3 from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Saturday, Feb. 4, from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m., we'll have special prices, where a bag of books is $5 or half-price on individual books.

Proceeds from the sale go directly to support programs, services, and new books and media at the Rohnert Park-Cotati Regional Library.

Children’s and Young Adult Book and Media Award Winners:

Each year in January, the American Library Association announces its annual picks for the best books and media for children and young adults. Some of the winners this year are: “Dead End in Norvelt” by Jack Gantos, which won the John Newbery Medal for the most outstanding contribution to children’s literature and “A Ball for Daisy” by Chris Raschka, which won the Randolph Caldecott Medal for the most distinguished American picture book. “Where Things Come Back” by John Corey Whaley, won the Michael L. Printz Award for excellence in literature written for young adults. Check out the complete list of awards here. More copies of the books will soon be found in the library’s collection.

Other Library News:

The Sebastopol Library will be closing its main building for a few months to make way for upgrades and renovation. There will be a temporary location that will offer limited hours and services. For more up-to-date information, check in with the Sonoma County Library online.

E-Books are a-coming!

The Sonoma County Library is expected to have e-books available for download to tablets and smart phones this summer. Don't miss the Press Democrat's story this week, which reported that the county is lagging on introducing e-books.
