Each summer the Sonoma County Library joins with all the public libraries in California to create a slam bang summer reading club. This year’s theme is “One World, Many Stories”. Who doesn’t have a story to tell or a story to share? The library is full of new stories, old stories, easy to read stories and downright difficult stories! There is even a Friends of the Library Bookstore where you can find a wonderful variety of used books to purchase.
Beginning June 1st, children of all ages can join the reading club and get a reading passport to keep track of their favorite book read each week. Younger children can have books read to them and babies will have their own reading program, the Rubber Ducky Club. Each child who finishes the club (the Reading Club ends on July 23rd) will earn a cloth book bag and a free book. (Rubber Ducky members get a little rubber ducky and a board book). There will also be free programs (such as puppets shows, magic shows and more). The programs are all listed on the library’s web page www.sonomalibrary.org and a printed flyer will be available later on this month at the library.

There is also a teen program called “You Are Here”. Teens can pick up book review cards and enter each week for a chance to win a weekly prize and a final grand prize.
Most of all, the summer library programs are free. What better place to hang out during the summer. Books to read, computers to use and friendly faces will all be there!
