The victims from California were people from different walks of life whose lives were tragically cut short.

Mothers and fathers. Husbands and wives. Sons and daughters. Sisters and brothers. They were people from different walks of life whose lives were tragically cut short Sunday when a gunman opened fire at a country music festival in Las Vegas.

The shooter killed 58 people and injured more than 500, making it the deadliest mass shooting in modern American history.

Hannah Ahlers

Hannah Ahlers, 34, of Beaumont, was married and had three children. She was an active member in her children's schools and community.

Carrie Barnette

Carrie Barnette, 34, of Riverside, worked at Flo's V8 Cafe and previously at the Pacific Wharf restaurant at Disney's California Adventure theme park in Anaheim. She was a member of the theme park's culinary team for more than 10 years.

Barnette had recently purchased a home in Riverside.

Sandy Casey

Sandy Casey, 35, of Redondo Beach, was a special education teacher at Manhattan Beach Middle School. Casey, a Vermont native, worked at Manhattan Beach Unified School District for nine years.

Several other members of Manhattan Beach school district also attended the music festival but were unharmed.

Denise Cohen

Denise Cohen of Carpinteria was a property manager in Santa Barbara, according to a NPG of California report. She had two sons.

Austin Davis

Austin Davis, 29, of Riverside, was a pipefitter.

Thomas Day Jr., 54, of Corona, was a contractor. He was a father of four.


Christiana Duarte

Christiana Duarte, 22, of Redondo Beach, worked in fan services for the Los Angeles Kings.

She graduated from South High School in Torrance and had recently graduated from the University of Arizona.

Stacee Etcheber

Stacee Etcheber, 50, of Novato, worked as a hairstylist at Ciao Bella Salon. She was the wife of a San Francisco police officer and the mother of two children.

Brian Fraser

Brian Fraser of La Palma was a Greenpath mortgage sales manager. He graduated from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona.

Dana Gardner

Dana Gardner, 52, of Grand Terrace, was a deputy recorder county clerk in San Bernardino. She had worked for the city since 1991.

Gardner attended the music festival with her daughter, Kayla Gardner, who survived.


Angela Gomez

Angela Gomez, 20, of Riverside, was a college student. She graduated from Polytechnic High School in 2015, then attended Riverside City College. She acted on stage with the Riverside Children's Theater, was involved in middle and high school choirs, and was a cheerleader for the high school, according to Riverside Unified School District.

Rocio Guillen

Rocio Guillen, 40, of Eastvale, had recently given birth to her fourth child. Relatives said she had also recently gotten engaged.

A GoFundMe campaign, Rocio Guillen Rocha, was established to help cover burial and funeral expenses.


Jennifer Irvine

Jennifer Irvine, 42, of San Diego, was a family law and criminal defense attorney. She ran a practice in downtown San Diego.

Irvine was a graduate of the University of San Diego and California Western School of Law. Outside of the courtroom, she earned a black belt in taekwondo, enjoyed hot yoga and was an avid snowboarder, according to her LinkedIn page.

Rachael Parker

Rachael Parker, 33, of Manhattan Beach, was a records technician for the Manhattan Beach Police Department. She worked at the department for a decade.

A native of Washington state, Parker graduated from Cheney High School, located southeast of Spokane. She earned her bachelor's degree in social work from Colorado State University.

Parker was one of four members of the Manhattan Beach Police Department at the music festival. A police officer was also shot but suffered only minor injuries.

Jenny Parks

Jenny Parks of Lancaster was a kindergarten teacher for Westside Union School District in Quartz Hill. She was married and had two children.

Her husband was shot in the arm and finger during the shooting.

Lisa Patterson

Lisa Patterson of Lomita was married and had three children.

She and her husband, Bob Patterson, had been together for more than 30 years. Bob Patterson was a coach and umpire with the Palos Verdes Girls Softball League, and Lisa was a regular volunteer and supporter of the league.

John Phippen

John Phippen, 56, of Valencia, owned a remodeling company known as JP Specialties. He had six children and one grandson.

He attended the country music festival with his son, Travis, who was shot in an arm but helped treat more than a dozen wounded people in the crowd.

Melissa Ramirez

Melissa Ramirez, 26, of North Hollywood, worked for the Automobile Club of Southern California.

A Littlerock native, Ramirez graduated from California State University, Bakersfield, in 2014 with a degree in business administration. She was a sports fan who loved the Philadelphia Eagles, Los Angeles Lakers, Dodgers and USC Trojans.

Jordyn Rivera

Jordyn Rivera, 21, was in her fourth year at California State University, San Bernardino, where she was studying health care management.

A native of La Verne, Rivera graduated from Bonita High School.

Christopher Roybal

Christopher "Chris" Roybal, 28, of Riverside, spent a decade in the U.S. Navy. He had recently finished a tour of duty in Afghanistan.

Roybal was set to celebrate his 29th birthday next week, his mother, Debby Allen, said.

Susan Smith

Susan Smith, 53, was an office manager at Vista Fundamental Elementary School in Simi Valley. She worked for the Simi Valley Unified School District for 16 years.


Michelle Vo

Michelle Vo, 32, of Los Angeles, was a licensed agent for New York Life Insurance Company. She had recently joined the LAX Coastal Chamber of Commerce.

Originally from Northern California, Vo graduated from Independence High School in San Jose and earned a bachelor's degree in communications from the University of California, Davis. She was a Golden State Warriors fan who had traveled to destinations such as Europe and Mexico and had studied abroad in London, according to her social media pages.

A GoFundMe campaign, Michelle Vo Memorial, was established to assist her family with a memorial service.
