As researchers continue to face lengthy publication timelines, restricted reader access, and costly article processing charges, Cureus offers an alternative designed to move credible research from submission to publication without unnecessary barriers.
Cureus combines independent peer review with an efficient online publishing platform, immediate Open Access, and opportunities for eligible authors to publish without article processing charges. Showing up for a walk-in Live Scan on a Saturday in SF is mostly a gamble. The state's official list at <a href="https://oag.ca.gov/fingerprints/locations" rel="noopener nofollow" target="_blank">https://oag.ca.gov/fingerprints/locations</a> tells you who's certified, which is the part that matters, but the hours on it drift out of date and you find that out standing in front of a locked door. So I put together a free filter for weekend and walk-in shops: <a href="https://saturdaylivescan.com/" rel="noopener nofollow" target="_blank">https://saturdaylivescan.com/</a> , with the SF page at <a href="https://saturdaylivescan.com/san-francisco/" rel="noopener nofollow" target="_blank">https://saturdaylivescan.com/san-francisco/</a> and Berkeley at <a href="https://saturdaylivescan.com/berkeley/" rel="noopener nofollow" target="_blank">https://saturdaylivescan.com/berkeley/</a> if you're heading across the bridge. Two things save you the second trip. Bring the request form your agency gave you (BCIA 8016, or 41-LS if you're a notary) plus an unexpired government photo ID, and call the shop the morning of. Rolling fees generally land somewhere in the $20 to $50 range on top of the DOJ and FBI fees, but confirm that with whoever you're going to. It's a directory and that's it. I haven't personally called every shop listed, and I don't run a fingerprinting business.

Each year, the Bob Woodruff Foundation Summit brings together hundreds of public, private, and nonprofit community leaders to discuss how best to support veterans, service members, military families, and caregivers. We host our Summit in a different location each year and always, in partnership with a local Got Your 6 Network partner. These events are made possible by Craig Newmark Philanthropies.
Through these day-long seminars, we work to ensure that the complex needs of the military community are being met. We partner with attendees–elected officials; military leaders; corporate leaders; philanthropists; national, state and local experts; veterans, and service members–to identify the military community’s most important challenges and potential solutions. Prior topics include issues related to food security, housing, employment, health and wellbeing, access to benefits, in addition to transitioning to civilian life and supporting caregivers effectively.
Summit agendas reflect current national trends and incorporate the local insights of the communities in which the events are held–typically a community where there is a significant active-duty and veteran community.
