NORTHERN CALIFORNIA — As the weekend wraps up, we've rounded up the stories you may have missed Saturday and Sunday to prepare you for Monday.
But before we jump into Northern California's top stories, residents should know that a beach hazards statement was issued for the Bay Area coastline due to an increased risk of dangerous sneaker waves.
The National Weather Service said northwest-facing beaches are most at risk for sneaker waves beginning Monday afternoon as long period northwest swell moves through the coastal waters. The beach hazards statement will be in effect through late Monday night.

"Large, unexpected waves can sweep across the beach without warning, sweeping people into the sea from rocks, jetties and beaches," NWS Bay Area forecasters wrote Sunday. "These sneaker waves can also move large objects such as logs, crushing anyone caught underneath."
The NWS also said that rain is expected to return to the region Tuesday night and persist at times through early Friday.

"Plan on wet roadways and slower commute times," NWS Bay Area said on X, formerly known as Twitter.

The series of one-day rolling strikes will begin at Cal Poly Pomona on Monday, with San Francisco State following on Tuesday, Cal State LA on Wednesday and Sacramento State on Thursday. Some faculty from other campuses are expected to join their colleagues and not teach on those days.
