Musical Pioneer Todd Rundgren Is Coming To SF For 'Damned If I Do' Tour (patch.com) — Music fans in San Francisco can look forward to Todd Rundgren kicking off the final U.S. leg of his "Damned If I Do" world tour at the Castro Theater on Oct. 21. The longtime rocker, backed by a full band, promises a set packed with fan favorites before continuing on to shows in Santa Cruz and Sacramento.
   

2. Video Shows SF Muni Driver Nod Off Before Crashing Into Train (patch.com) — San Franciscans are seeing new video of a Muni operator apparently nodding off before crashing an empty train into another near the San Francisco Zoo on July 31, injuring only himself. The San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency called the fatigue-related crash unacceptable and says a formal investigation into the operator error is underway.
   

3. 2 NorCal Spots Named Among 2026's Best New Restaurants By Bon Appétit (patch.com) — San Francisco diners have two new reasons to celebrate, as Bon Appétit's 2026 best new restaurants list includes local standouts Jules and Maria Isabel. The magazine praises Jules for its inventive sourdough-based pizzas and Maria Isabel for its refined, regionally focused Mexican cuisine showcasing local ingredients and nixtamalized corn masa. Both spots are recognized for creativity, community focus, and bold flavors.

San Francisco projects continued tourism growth into 2027 (nbcbayarea.com) — San Francisco's tourism industry is rebounding, with SF Travel projecting 25 million visitors and more than $10 billion in visitor spending next year, continuing a three-year growth streak. Hotel occupancy is expected to climb toward 72% in 2027, driven largely by a strong convention calendar and rising domestic travel, even as international tourism recovers more slowly.
   

5. Nav center employee, charged with aiding alleged cop shooter, arrested by feds on courthouse steps (missionlocal.org) — A Bayshore Navigation Center supervisor in San Francisco was arrested by federal marshals outside the Hall of Justice just before his arraignment on charges he helped a man accused of shooting an SFPD officer evade capture. The case centers on what happened when the suspect reached the homeless shelter, with prosecutors alleging the worker provided clothing to disguise him and the defense arguing he followed a superior's instructions without knowing about the shooting.
