Put on Your Running Shoes: Marathon Winner Goes to Top Companies

(San Francisco, July 25, 2018) --- Jorge Maravilla, winner of last year’s 2017 San Francisco Marathon, brought his expertise and motivational techniques to the local community by visiting the most prominent Bay Area companies this July. Maravilla, sponsored by the Taiwan Tourism Bureau, spoke about his running career and inspire others at YouTube on July 10, Facebook on July 20, and LinkedIn on July 24 as the Bay Area prepares for the 2018 San Francisco Marathon on July 29, 2018.

Employees at these events were invited to register for the marathon themselves after listening to Maravilla’s incredible story. An El Salvadoran immigrant, Maravilla came to the United States as a child and started his journey from humble beginnings running through the farmlands of the San Joaquin Valley. It took a lot of hard work, diligence, and natural talent to become a professional international ultrarunner—a superstar in an environment where everyone can succeed. Maravilla’s marvelous career has led to him travel all across the globe, winning numerous prestigious races and earning accolades left and right. One memorable race took place last November, where he placed first in the first Penghu Cross-Sea International Marathon in Taiwan. This scenic course featured a unique island-hopping route where the runners moved between small islands of the archipelago.

Maravilla gave advice on balancing family and fitness, motivating oneself to run and get healthy, and how to prepare mentally and physically for a race. He will also make an appearance and speak to Sprint employees at the Race Expo, a huge health and fitness expo that takes place at Fort Mason Center’s Festival Pavilion on July 27 and 28.
