Support Fair Media Council & Improve the Media Landscape
This #GivingTuesday, Support a Nonprofit Focusing on Media Accountability & Media Literacy

This Giving Tuesday, the Fair Media Council (FMC), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, invites the public to support its mission to hold the media accountable and empower individuals to critically engage with information. FMC recognizes that building a media landscape based on credible information requires addressing both sides of the coin: media accountability and public media literacy.
What FMC Does
FMC is the authority on the modern media landscape. Since 1979, FMC has worked tirelessly to ensure that journalism serves the public interest by prioritizing accuracy, fairness, and relevance. That mission has evolved to address the challenges posed by today's media landscape, which requires advanced media literacy skills. FMC empowers organizations and individuals with the tools they need to critically assess information and protect their credibility in a rapidly evolving media environment.

Why It Matters
Misinformation is a growing threat to democracy. Without a media-savvy public and responsible organizations sharing accurate information, there can be no true media accountability. FMC bridges this gap by fostering a critical, informed audience while promoting credible practices among the organizations that shape the narrative. As one of the country's oldest and most successful media watchdogs, FMC brings unique perspective and expertise to helping the public master the modern media landscape.
A Message from FMC’s Leadership
“Information has power, but only when it's credible," says FMC CEO and Executive Director Jaci Clement. "At FMC, we address both sides of the coin: media literacy and media accountability. Without a media-savvy public and responsible organizations committed to credibility, there will never be true media accountability. Our programming is designed to teach best practices in corporate responsibility, ensuring that credible information is shared online and throughout all platforms. Your support this Giving Tuesday helps us fulfill this mission and create a stronger, more informed society.”
