Two San Francisco women-owned businesses were just selected as FedEx Small Business Grant winners, and the only winners in California. These two companies will each receive $7500 to use towards growing their small businesses in the Bay Area.

Tane Chan, owner of The Wok Shop, has been open in Chinatown for over 47 years. One of nine children, she moved to San Francisco from Albuquerque, New Mexico and has been here ever since. She will be using the grant to expand her online presence and let the world know they have 'woks' for all walks of life.

Mary Mar Keenan, Founder of MM Clay, is a small business that customizes handmade pottery for private homes and restaurants, like the award winning restaurant The Progress. Her business is expanding with the increasing demand from restaurants for earthy handmade plates, cups and bowls. She says "the white plate is out." The small business grant is going to help expand her studio space and purchase another kiln.
