Gas Prices Drop Double Digits in June
Many gas stations, including in San Mateo, are now selling regular for under $4 a gallon.
Average gas prices across the Bay Area dropped by double digits at the beginning of June compared to prices a month ago, according to AAA calculations.
The decline in prices , and today Bay Area motorists can expect to pay $4.02 per gallon on average compared to $4.32 in mid-May, AAA said.
The average price across the state is $3.94, down 32 cents from a month ago -- but still up 96 cents from this time in 2010.

In some cases, even nearby, lower prices can be found. At San Mateo Auto Care and Gas, for example, the price today for a gallon of regular unleaded is just $3.89, according to a worker there.
California has the sixth-highest gas prices in the country, with only Alaska, Hawaii, Connecticut, Illinois and New York ranking above it, AAA said.

The most expensive gas in the Bay Area was found in San Francisco at $4.07 per gallon, according to AAA. The cheapest was in Santa Cruz at $3.87 per gallon.
