5 More Coronavirus Deaths, 120 New Cases Reported In Marin
Officials reported five more coronavirus-related deaths — the highest one-day increase yet — bringing the county's death toll to 28.
MARIN COUNTY, CA — Marin County recorded its deadliest day of the coronavirus pandemic on Monday.
Public health officials reported five more coronavirus-related deaths — the highest one-day increase yet — bringing the county's death toll to 28. Officials also reported 120 new COVID-19 cases, raising the county's total case count to 1,809.
Cases at San Quentin State Prison aren't included in the county's numbers. As of Monday, there were 1,435 active cases in custody at the prison and 32 cases that were released while active, according to the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation. Ten inmates have died.

A total of 82 people have been hospitalized due to the virus since Marin's first COVID-19 case was reported on March 8. There were 26 people hospitalized on Monday, including 18 patients from the community and eight patients from San Quentin, according to the county. That's down from a record high of 35 on July 7.

There were 19 residential care and skilled nursing facilities in the county with active COVID-19 positive patients or staff members.
To date, the majority of confirmed cases in the county have been residents younger than 49 years old, while the majority of hospitalizations and deaths have been residents older than 50 years old, according to county data. The majority of confirmed cases, hospitalizations and deaths have occurred among residents who are male and of white, Hispanic or Asian race/ethnicity.
A total of 38,622 COVID-19 tests have been completed in Marin. There have been 1,312 documented recoveries, according to the county.
