Woodward Fire: 4,465 Acres Burned, 25% Contained In Marin County
Point Reyes National Seashore remains closed to the pubic until further notice. Smoke continues to impact the area around the fire.

MARIN COUNTY, CA — Crews continue to work to contain the Woodward Fire in Point Reyes National Seashore, which has scorched 4,465 acres and was 25 percent contained as of Tuesday.
A total of 567 firefighting personnel were assigned to the fire Tuesday, including 13 fire crews, plus 36 engines, five helicopters, five dozers, five water tenders, four planes and two masticators.
Burnout operations were planned for Tuesday using unmanned aerial systems equipped with plastic sphere dispensers and hand ignition in the northeast and southeast areas of the fire, according to Northern Rockies National Incident Management Team 2. Mop-up was expected to continue on the southeast and northwest sides of the blaze, while holding operations were planned on the north, east and west sides of the fire.

Fire officials said fuel mitigation property assessments would continue as needed, in the areas of Inverness, Inverness Park, Point Reyes Station and Olema.
The fire, ignited by lightning, sparked Aug. 18 just south of the Woodward Trail, a few miles west of the Bear Valley Visitor Center in Olema and about a mile inland from Limantour Beach.

Evacuation Orders and Warnings
Evacuation orders remained in effect for Silverhills Road, Fox Drive and Noren Way south of Inverness Park. The communities of Drakes View, Inverness, Inverness Park and Sea Haven were under evacuation warnings.
Authorities were actively patrolling the areas under evacuation orders and warnings, Marin County sheriff's Sgt. Brenton Schneider said. There have been no reports of looting.

Closures
Point Reyes National Seashore remained closed to the pubic until further notice.
Bear Valley Road was closed between Sir Francis Drake and Shoreline Highway. Coastal roadways were restricted to local traffic.
Air Conditions
Smoke continued to impact the area around the fire. Some areas were expected to experience very dense smoke and unhealthy air quality that could reach hazardous levels, according to the incident management team.
