San Ramon Police Warn Against Scam Calls
Scammers pretending to be the San Ramon Police Department are calling residents and demanding payment to avoid jail time.
SAN RAMON, CA — Multiple San Ramon residents received scam calls claiming to be the San Ramon Police Department, the SRPD said Monday.
The callers reported receiving a call displaying the agency’s main number, 925-973-2700. A caller claiming to be a SRPD officer tells the resident that they have not responded to a subpoena, and there is a warrant for their arrest. The only way to avoid immediate jail time is to pay a large fine, according to the scammer.
Dublin and Livermore police have reported similar scams recently.
