Dodgers' Yasiel Puig Burglarized During World Series Game 7 Loss

LOS ANGELES, CA — Because he wasn't already having a bad enough day, a burglar broke into Los Angeles Dodgers star Yasiel Puig 's San Fernando Valley home during the Dodgers' Game 7 World Series Loss Wednesday night.

The charismatic slugger discovered the theft when he got home from the ballpark Wednesday night, TMZ.com reported. A burglar had broken a window to the residence during Wednesday night's game, setting off an alarm. The crime was captured on surveillance video, but the thief got away with jewelry, according to the authorities.

It's the second time this year that Puig was a victim of burglary. Burglaries basically bookended his season with the first occurring during spring training. In March, thieves broke into his Sherman Oaks home, stealing about $170,000 worth of jewelry and other valuables. Last night's break-in reportedly occurred at a different home in Encino.

The Los Angeles Police Department declined comment on the case.

It's been a bad year for celebrity burglaries in Los Angeles. Athletes playing road trips, singers on tour, and actors filming on location have all been targeted.

Police have said that multiple crews with no affiliation are responsible for many of the burglaries, and that they have made arrests of gang members from South Los Angeles who travel to affluent Valley neighborhoods to commit burglaries, often by wearing suits and driving expensive cars to blend in with the upscale communities.
