63 Vehicles Hit By Projectiles: Monterey CHP Ups Reward, Patrols
Monterey Area CHP Captain Kyle Foster said the agency is using "every investigative means" at its disposal to catch the suspect(s).

MONTEREY COUNTY, CA — The number of vehicles struck by projectiles on highways 156 and 101 near Prunedale has reached 63, and the California Highway Patrol announced Tuesday an increased reward of $15,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person(s) responsible.
On Tuesday, Monterey Area CHP Captain Kyle Foster said the agency is using "every investigative means" at its disposal with significantly increased patrols in the Prunedale area.
Projectiles striking vehicles along US-101 and SR-156 in Monterey County and SR-156 in San Benito County began earlier this year, but fortunately there have been no major injuries reported.

Foster offered recommendations for motorists traveling the 101 corridor in Prunedale: Drive with windows up. If your vehicle is struck, turn on your hazard lights, pull to the right shoulder, stop and call 911 immediately. Do not disturb any physical evidence, he said.
"I know some of you may not feel safe pulling over. If that is the case, please get off at the next exit and dial 911. The sooner you call us, the sooner we can have officers on scene," Foster said.
