Here are the top stories today in Boulder:
- Catastrophic climate changes are coming if society doesn't make immediate changes. According to a newly released report, the world must halt its increase in greenhouse gases within the next three years, and eliminate their emissions entirely by 2050 to avoid irreversible global impacts. It's not all bad news, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) report claims that we already have the tools necessary to make these changes, and they're cheaper than ever before. - Boulder Library District one step closer to realty. After a marathon public hearing at a joint meeting between the Boulder City Council and the Boulder County Commissioners, City Council voted to approve it, in a 6-3 vote. If the County Commissioners vote to approve the creation of the new district, the measure will then be sent to the public for a vote. (Yahoo)
- Craft breweries bouncing back from impacts of pandemic. Boulder's Brewers Association says the number of breweries in operation at the end of 2021 is a year-end record. (Business Journal)
- Boulder planning to launch guaranteed income pilot. The City of Boulder hopes to launch its version by the end of the year. The guaranteed income program will provide some residents with cash on a regular basis, with the hope of keeping them afloat. (FOX31)
- Those expensive prototype bikes that were stolen last week have been recovered. Boulder Police have recovered all three bikes that were stolen during a burglary last week. The investigation has also led to the recovery of numerous other stolen items, to including additional bikes, electronics and packages. (Boulder)

- Boulder pools are short more than 100 more lifeguards for this summer's swimming operations. Pandemic-related staffing shortages could cause reduced services and summer closures of at some of the city's pools if the city can't find the necessary life guards and pool staff. (Reporting Lab)
- Clean air, environmental justice, and climate activists to protest. The Colorado Public Utilities Commission will decide to approve or reject Xcel Energy's latest proposal to burn coal at Colorado's biggest coal plant for 12 more years. The Green Latinos and other clean air activists are set to protest in front of Xcel Energy's Colorado Headquarters in Denver at 1800 Larimer Street on Friday, April 8 from Noon to 3 p.m. (Facebook)
