Boulder Valley board votes to close 4 schools, consolidate others amid declining enrollment (denver7.com) — Boulder Valley School District has voted 5-2 to close Douglass, Flatirons, Birch, and Mesa elementary schools next fall, reshaping where many Boulder children will attend class. Facing years of declining enrollment and projected budget losses, the board plans broader consolidations and grade changes, while families worry about special education services, keeping siblings together, and whether community input was truly heard.
   

2. Boulder's Pearl Arts District project clears latest hurdle (dailycamera.com) — A unanimous Boulder Planning Board vote has advanced rezoning for the proposed Pearl Arts District in Boulder Junction, paving the way for a major performing arts venue, hotel, and hundreds of housing units. The project, anchored by a 2,500-seat music venue near the future Boulder rail stop, still needs City Council approval and depends on stormwater work finishing before construction can begin.
   

3. Ignitus Recovery acquires AIM Health (bizwest.com) — A long-standing Boulder behavioral health program, AIM Health Boulder, has been acquired by Boulder-based Ignitus Recovery, which pledges no disruption to current services during the transition. Leaders say they aim to expand residential treatment, alumni engagement, and long-term recovery support while preserving AIM's clinical approach and continuing to serve local young adults, individuals, and families.
   

4. Heat pump purchasing program 'Switch Together' now open for Boulder County residents (bouldercounty.gov) — Boulder County residents, including those in Boulder, Longmont, and Erie, can now join the Switch Together group-buy program to save about 20% on installing high-efficiency heat pumps at home. With a refundable $150 deposit and stackable rebates, participants can get personalized recommendations and significant discounts if they accept offers by November 8, helping cut energy bills and improve comfort year-round.
   

5. CU Boulder chancellor's house sells for $4 million (dailycamera.com) — CU Boulder's chancellor recently moved out of a Chautauqua neighborhood house on 14th Street that has now sold for $4 million, after being purchased by the CU Foundation in 2024. The university is instead investing in repairs at its Caddo Parkway property, which may eventually be demolished to create new faculty and staff housing, potentially reshaping a Boulder residential area.
