Denver Remains Major Tech Hub as Colorado Springs Ranks Among Top Emerging Markets (milehighcre.com) — Colorado Springs is being recognized as one of North America's top emerging tech markets, ranking third among 25 "opportunity" cities in CBRE's 2026 Scoring Tech Talent Report. With more than 20,000 tech workers and strong recent growth, the city is highlighted as an attractive, cost-efficient talent pool for employers compared with larger hubs like Denver.
   

2. City Council gives Old Colorado City DDA chance to make new case for staying in business (gazette.com) — Colorado Springs City Council has postponed a final decision on dissolving the Old Colorado City Downtown Development Authority, giving the board time to pursue a 2027 mill levy vote. The delay also opens the door for more public comment and potential boundary changes along Colorado Avenue that could shape future improvements in Old Colorado City.
   

3. 'It all starts with the kids': Children's Water Festival teaches conservation to Colorado Springs youngsters (gazette.com) — Hundreds of fourth-graders from Colorado Springs School District 11 and Harrison District 2 spent the day at the Pikes Peak Children's Water Festival learning hands-on lessons about conservation and water safety. Colorado Springs Utilities staff highlighted how local water use has dropped significantly, stressing that today's students will be tomorrow's community leaders responsible for protecting the city's limited water supply.
   

4. Shelter-in-place alert lifted for Colorado Springs east side neighborhood (kktv.com) — A shelter-in-place alert for an east side Colorado Springs neighborhood has been lifted after police moved in to arrest a child wanted out of Fountain. Residents near Oldfarm Circle West, Sunset Ridge Drive, Silo Ridge, and Copernicus Way were told to stay inside and away from windows during the law enforcement activity near Eros Way. Police have not yet released further details.
   

5. Colorado Springs City Council approves zoning plan for over 1,000 acres in Banning Lewis Ranch area (krdo.com) — Colorado Springs City Council has approved a major zoning plan for more than 1,000 acres in the Banning Lewis Ranch area, paving the way for about 5,100 new homes. The development, led by Oakwood Homes, could also bring new schools, parks, commercial areas, and a fire station, potentially expanding housing options for teachers, first responders, and military families.
