District 51 sees gains across schools in latest state performance ratings (kjct8.com) — District 51 schools in Grand Junction just received new state performance ratings, with 97% now in the top two tiers and Central High reaching the highest level for the first time since 2013. Fourteen schools posted gains, including big jumps at New Emerson STEAM LEAD, Bookcliff Middle, and Shelledy Elementary, as the district pushes toward having 90% of schools at the top rating by 2030.

Pink Flamingos take flight across Grand Junction in fundraiser led by Junior Eagles (nbc11news.com) — Pink plastic flamingos have been popping up at Grand Junction's Community Hospital, Orchard Mesa Middle School, and local yards as Junior Eagles 595 raise money for the Mesa County Mentorship Program and Special Olympics. The kids' summer "flocking" fundraiser brought in over $1,500, and they're now inviting Grand Junction-area youth ages 8 to 18 to join their low-cost, yearlong service club.

Woman Arrested for Using Stun Gun During Assault (junctionnow.com) — Mesa County deputies arrested a 21-year-old Clifton woman after she allegedly used a stun gun on a victim and smashed a car windshield during an altercation where a child was present. The incident happened Tuesday night on Topaz Drive in Clifton, and she now faces felony stun-gun use plus multiple misdemeanor assault, child abuse, and criminal mischief charges.
