Body In Lakewood Car Trunk: Sheriff's Office Seeks Public Help

The decomposing body of Dean Wallis was found in the trunk of his parked car. The Jeffco sheriff's office is asking for the public's help.

LAKEWOOD, CO – Investigators are still coming up short in the case of the homicide of Dean Wallis, 52, of Lakewood, whose decomposing body was found in Lakewood inside the trunk of his parked car on June 28.

Crime Stoppers is offering a reward up to $2,000 for information leading an arrest in this case, the Jefferson County Sheriff's office reported.

Jennifer Fulton, JeffCo sheriff's public information officer said because the investigation is still ongoing, the sheriff's office could not reveal the manner of Wallis's death.

A U.S. Marshal who was searching for Wallis because he had reportedly violated his parole, found Wallis's car in the 3500 block of South Nelson Circle across from the Whisper Creek Apartments in Lakewood. The marshal called the sheriff's office after noticing the odor from the car trunk. Wallis had been missing since May 13.

Wallis was on parole after being sentenced to 24 years in prison in 1996. He was convicted in Montrose County of first-degree assault of a public safety officer, the Denver Post reported.
