1 Dead, 12 Injured In Littleton Early Morning Senior Housing Fire
1 person has died. Officials categorized the blaze a "mass casualty incident" because of the number of residents injured at the Windermere.

LITTLETON, CO – UPDATE: One person has died and 12 were hospitalized in an early morning blaze at a senior housing high-rise building in Littleton Saturday morning.
The victim was identified as Michael Craig Mitchell, who died on his 70th birthday.
The City of Littleton reported that due to the air quality in the east tower of The Windermere, at 5829 S. Datura St., displaced residents will not be allowed back into the complex until at least Monday. Residents can call the leasing office at 303-795-2902 to find out when they will be allowed back into their apartment, the city said. All pets had been accounted for, the city said.

The Red Cross is operating an overnight shelter at The Life Center at 5804 South Datura Street.

The fire started in one apartment first-floor unit at the housing center, which is near Downtown Littleton.

About 100 emergency personnel were on the scene, including 10 engines, four ladder trucks and 13 ambulances.
