CT Weather: First Snow Of The Season Hits Forecast

The National Weather Service said that parts of the state could see up to three inches of snow and ice accumulation by Wednesday morning.

CONNECTICUT — The first winter weather advisory of the season has been issued in Connecticut.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for Litchfield and Hartford county Tuesday evening and continuing through 10 a.m. Wednesday.

In Litchfield County, the weather service said, "Total snow accumulations of 1 to 3 inches with up to 4 inches possible in higher terrain. Ice accumulations of up to one tenth of an inch."

For Hartford County, the weather service said, "Total snow accumulations of up to one inch. Ice accumulations of around a glaze to one tenth of an inch at or above elevations above 1000 ft."

In Tolland County, the weather service said less than an inch of snow and ice is possible.

And in southern Connecticut, it's expected to be plain rain at the coast, though some mixed precipitation is possible at the onset, and between a coating and two inches of snow is possible in interior sections.

"This could result in slippery road conditions overnight, and possibly the morning commute," the weather service cautioned.

The precipitation is expected to begin after 7 p.m. Tuesday and will change to plain rain overnight across the entire state.

Wednesday: Rain, mainly before 11am. High near 44. Northeast wind 6 to 10 mph becoming northwest in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Thursday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 44. Light southwest wind becoming west 5 to 10 mph in the morning. Winds could gust as high as 22 mph.

Friday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 43. Southwest wind 5 to 11 mph, with gusts as high as 22 mph.

Saturday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 39. West wind 5 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.
