Connecticut School Nurse On Leave Due To LGBTQ Comments: Reports
A public school nurse has been placed on leave due to allegations that she posted inappropriate comments about Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, and Questioning students on social media, according to NBC CT. The schools superintendent sent a letter to the school community Monday regarding the comments, stating, "the values they express are totally inconsistent with what we stand for." (Read more here).
Connecticut Is 2022’s State with the 7th Highest Tax Burden
WalletHub today released its 2022 Tax Burden by State report, along with its 2022 Tax Facts infographic. In order to determine which states tax their residents most aggressively, WalletHub compared the 50 states based on the three components of state tax burden — property taxes, individual income taxes, and sales and excise taxes — as a share of total personal income.
Tax Burden in Connecticut (1=Highest, 25=Avg.):
- 7th – Overall Tax Burden (10.06%)
- 7th – Property Tax Burden (4.16%)
- 11th – Individual Income Tax Burden (3.07%)
- 41st – Total Sales & Excise Tax Burden (2.83%)
Coronavirus update
Over the weekend, the coronavirus infection rate was 3.07 percent. Out of 33,065 administered tests, 1,014 came back positive, according to the state Department of Public Health.
The number of hospitalizations inched up by two over the weekend to 94.
