Embattled Avon Police Chief Will Retire
Avon Police Chief Mark Rinaldo was suspended last month and will now retire, according to a report.

AVON, CT — Police Chief Mark Rinaldo, who was facing a suspension, will retire in the coming days, according to a report in The Hartford Courant. He was placed on paid administrative leave last month due to allegations regarding his conduct.
However, what exactly he's being accused of hasn't been revealed. Town Manager Brandon Robertson told the Courant that the accusations against Rinaldo no longer require an investigation.
The search for Rinaldo's replacement will begin in 2020. Lt. Kelly Walsh initially took over the position in an interim capacity but then resigned from the department Nov. 29.
