Employee Hospitalized After Forklift Accident At Berlin Business

BERLIN, CT — A worker was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries Thursday afternoon after an incident involving a forklift at a Berlin business, according to the Berlin Volunteer Fire Department.

The call was dispatched at 2:54 p.m. Thursday, June 11, to 17 Washington Ave. for a report of a worker trapped beneath a forklift.

Mutual-aid crews standing by from South Kensington, Rocky Hill and Wethersfield responded to the scene.

Upon arrival, responders found the worker had already freed himself from beneath the equipment, according to the fire department.

Emergency personnel provided medical care at the scene before the worker was transported to an area hospital for treatment of injuries that were not considered life-threatening.

The incident took place at 17 Washington Ave., a light industrial property in Berlin's "General Industrial" zoning district.

The 0.35-acre property, which was built in 1948, is home to several businesses.

The property is located within an industrial area surrounded by other commercial and business operations.

The fire department did not release additional information about how the incident occurred.
