Berlin police are seeking the public's help as they investigate the shooting.

BERLIN, CT β€” A teenage girl in Berlin was rushed to the hospital Sunday night after being shot in the abdomen, Berlin police said Monday morning.

According to the Berlin Police Department, officers at 9:17 p.m. were called by a resident near 292 Deming Road reporting a gunshot outside their home.

"When officers responded to the scene the suspect and victim had both left the area," wrote the BPD.

Shortly thereafter, a 17-year-old female was at the emergency room at The Hospital of Central Connecticut in New Britain.

Police said she had a "non-life threatening gunshot wound to the abdomen that had occurred in Berlin."

Police are still investigating the incident and, they said, evidence has been recovered at the shooting scene.
