Ex-Bethel Teacher Accused of Sexual Assault Says 'I Am Not A Pedophile,' Asks Court For Leniency
He pleaded no contest to three felony counts of risk of injury to a minor and one count of promoting a minor in an obscene performance.
A former first grade Berry Elementary School teacher has denied charges that he sexually assaulted three boys, ages 6, 9, and 11, during a sleepover at his house, according to The News Times.
Brian Stroh, 31, of New Fairfield, asked the judge for leniency at his sentencing hearing on Wednesday, telling the court that he is not a pedophile and prison won’t cure him. Stroh said he was diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder, was burned with boiling water while in prison and said tried to commit suicide the day he learned he was under investigation.
According to the News Times, shortly after being arrested, Stroh attempted suicide by swallowing large doses of Tylenol and Motrin and drank diesel fuel. Bedford, N.Y. police said he then “intentionally crashed his car against a guardrail and a tree in a commuter parking lot in nearby Katonah.”
