A unanimous vote from Bethel’s Planning and Zoning Commission means a Wheels gas station and convenience store will soon open at 82 Stony Hill Road, according to the News Times.

A resident created the Facebook page, Say No To Wheels Gas Station where she wrote:

“Wheels is proposing to put a gas station on Stony Hill in close proximity to all residences. We need your help. Here’s why: there is a day care, Kindercare, across the street. There are young children in the houses surrounding. The previously quiet neighborhoods, that Bethel is known for and so proud of, are being destroyed. The fumes released just from putting gas in your car are harmful, dangerous, and could even cause cancer. In addition, there are plans to rebuild another gas station right down the road in Newtown. We need everyone to come together and oppose this gas station.”
