Sarah Whalen Represents Bethel in State Meet

Bethel High Junior Sarah Whalen finished 87th Tuesday in the highly competitive State Open Meet at Hammanaset State park in Madison.

As a lone BHS representative, Whalen ran 20:48 over the 5 km distance. That averaged out to a 6:43 mile pace.

"The course was flat and included many turns as it wove along the park trails," Coach Mark Goodwin said. "As a junior, Sarah's experience of her first Open Run should prove valuable for her senior year. The fast tempo and crowded field of talent all gave Sarah a taste of big meet experience."
