Academy of Dance Competition Team Wins at StarQuest

The Academy of Dance Competition team received High Gold adjudication awards for their four group routines and placed in the overall top five for all four routines. In addition, the team received the judges recognition for their costumes in the tap number “Journey Through Space” as well as winning overall with that number in the Teen Select Large Group category. They received a special award, “Crisp Timing” for their musical production number “All Shook Up.” In the duo number “Rather Be,” Nadia Siena and Emma Gambardella received High Gold and a Fusion Award as “the most memorable/entertaining Duet/Trio in the Teen/Senior age class.” The trio of Maya Barbieri, Emma Gambardella, and Kate Yuan scored the team’s Platinum adjudication for the event, received a special award “Newsworthy!” and achieved the top score in the Teen Classic Duo/Trio category for their dane “King of New York.” Our soloist, Maya Barbieri in “Smooth Criminal” received High Gold adjudication, judges recognition for costume, and Top Score in the Teen Classic Soloist category. Studio owner, Theresa Gambardella, was recognized with a choreography award for both “Journey Through Space” and the jazz routine “Fireball.” The dancers will perform these numbers and more in their annual Spring Showcase on May 31, 2015 at Hamden Middle School in Hamden.

Academy of Dance, LLC, located at 8 Lunar Drive in Woodbridge, is under the direction of Teresa Gambardella. Terry is the recipient of many choreography awards in both local and national events. Her students have been recognized for their technical achievements and great style on stage.
