Naugatuck Couple's Baby Delivered by State Troopers in Bethany
State Police delivered the baby in a minivan.

NAUGATUCK, CT - State Police at Troop I in Bethany helped deliver Somp Borivong and his wife's, Sorsamlane fifth child, Tyler this weekend, WTNH News 8 reports.
The Naugatuck couple called 911 at 2:15 a.m. Saturday saying the woman, who was in active labor was being driven to the troop, State Police said on Facebook. The ambulance was also enroute and would transport the woman to the hospital.
Shortly after receiving the call troopers saw a minivan pull into the Troop I parking lot and stop in front of the building.

Two troopers grabbed medical equipment and ran outside to the minivan where they found the woman in the passenger seat in active labor, and childbirth appeared imminent. The ambulance was not on scene yet, however the woman began to deliver the baby, State Police said.
Prior to the arrival of the ambulance troopers helped the woman deliver a baby boy in the passenger seat of the minivan in the parking lot of Troop I, State Police said.

The ambulance arrived on scene and transported mother and baby to the hospital where they were reported to be happy and healthy.
"Congrats to the mother, baby boy, and the Troop I aunts and uncles!!!," State Police said.
“It was exciting. It was interesting. It was a little bit stressful at first,” said Connecticut State Police Sergeant John Castiline, via News 8, who was ready to assist the couple. He added that he was fortunate that a female state trooper was there to assist him in the delivery.
