Residents and Pets Escape Safely from Fire at Woodbridge Home

The incident occurred Sunday afternoon and destroyed a good portion of the house.

A fire was reported at a house on 94 Acorn Road in Woodbridge, Sunday afternoon, the New Haven Register reports.

According to the paper, the house sustained significant damage but all the occupants of the home including a ferret and a dog sustained no injuries.

The incident occurred at around 11:30 when the resident of the home, Ana Huribal was cooking lunch, the paper reports. Huribal went to the bathroom and when she returned saw that the kitchen was filled with smoke.

Huribal’s son called the police who told the family to leave the house. Huribal was able to bring her dog Jessey out of the house with her but left behind a ferret in the basement, the paper reports. The ferret survived and was brought out by firefighters.

Huribal’s husband and her son were at work when the incident occurred.

Firefighters remained at the scene for several hours, the paper reports.
