Family's Faith In God Helps Them Cope With Tragic Death Of Ben Callahan, 10: Report

The family of Ben Callahan recently spoke with WTNH News 8 Anchor Anne Craig for an in-depth interview on how the family is coping.

BRANFORD, CT — David Callahan said it's a deep faith in God that has helped his family move forward after the tragic drowning of Ben Callahan, 10, last month. The Callahans sat down with WTNH News 8 Anchor Anne Craig to discuss the tragic accident.

In the interview, David Callahan, gets emotional recalling how Ben tried to help his brother, Scout, 9, who was struggling in the water near the culvert. Scout was able to make it through but Ben drowned.

In the interview, David Callahan said it's the family's faith in Jesus that provides them comfort and the knowledge that Ben is in Heaven.

“If God came to me ten years ago, I’m going to give you three amazing little people, but I might need to take one back to further my glory, do you want it, of course you’d say yeah!” David told Anne Craig of News 8

Ben's two brothers say they desperately miss him. Since Ben's death the Branford community and far beyond has rallied to the families aid. There was a vigil that attracted thousands of people to the Branford Green, tens of thousands of dollars have been raised for the family, and numerous benefits are still scheduled.
