CTDOT Worker In Fatal Crash Was Bridgeport Resident: Mayor Ganim (patch.com) — Bridgeport is mourning resident and CTDOT worker Elvin Hernandez, who was fatally struck while doing highway maintenance on I-95 in Fairfield. Mayor Joe Ganim and Gov. Ned Lamont offered condolences, highlighting the risks transportation workers face and expressing sympathy to Hernandez's family, friends, and colleagues in the Bridgeport community.
   

2. Man Arrested On Reckless Driving Charge On I-95 In Bridgeport: CT State Police (patch.com) — Morning commuters on I-95 in Bridgeport saw a Stratford man allegedly speeding along the left shoulder during stop-and-go traffic near exit 24, leading to his arrest on multiple motor vehicle charges. State police say he faces reckless driving and other counts and is due in Bridgeport Superior Court next month after posting bond.
   

3. Pedestrian, 71, Struck And Injured By Hit-And-Run Driver In Bridgeport: Police (patch.com) — A 71-year-old pedestrian was hit by a driver who fled the scene at Washington and Pequonnock avenues in Bridgeport on Thursday night, according to police. The victim sustained minor injuries, and Bridgeport officers are now investigating the hit-and-run and seeking more information about what happened.
   

4. Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day In Bridgeport Rescheduled (patch.com) — Bridgeport residents now have until Saturday, Oct. 17 to drop off household hazardous waste for free at Blackham School, after the city rescheduled the annual collection due to bad weather. You can simply load your trunk with accepted hazardous items, drive up to the Thorme Street site between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m., and crews will safely unload everything for you.
   

5. Bridgeport Affordable Housing Complex Undergoes $19.5M Rehabilitation (news-usa.today) — A 44-unit affordable housing complex in Bridgeport's Lindencroft Historic District is getting a $19.5 million overhaul, bringing new kitchens, bathrooms, and central air to Yale Street Commons residents. Families will be temporarily relocated to Park City Place during three‑month construction phases, but rents will remain capped, protecting low- and moderate-income tenants as the project wraps up by next fall.
