Canton Intermediate School Gets a taste of Hawaiian Culture

Friday, May 3rd, students who attend Canton Intermediate School (grades 4-6th) could attend the annual “Hawaiian Night” and get the grass skirts out of their closets. The night was full of fun activities, games, dancing to a live DJ, a tattoo bar, nail painting, and even a Ben and Jerry’s ice cream sundae cart! Some of the most popular games were a game of luck, where you stuck coconuts onto a tree, an obstacle course, and a whipped cream and bubble gum blow out. There were also hula hooping contests, limbos, best dressed awards, and other contests that could win you a gift card to ‘Barnes and Nobles’. The night raised money for the PTO, but the kids having fun was the main goal. This was easily accomplished. Gwennie and Carson enjoyed dancing to the DJ, Shelby enjoyed winning a best shirt contest, Kristy loved a game involving bubble gum and whipped cream, and Nolan enjoyed having his nails painting. No, you did not read that wrong. The guys seem to be starting new trends with hot pink nail polish! But overall, all the students agreed the night was very fun and can’t wait to come back next year for more pineapple kabobs and coconut.
