Cherry Brook Garden Club tours White Flower Farm

Barbara Pierson spoke to the members of the Cherry Brook Garden Club on September 10, 2013 at the White Flower Farm, in Litchfield, CT, her topic is "Perennial Combinations that Work".  This was a members only event.

Barbara Pierson developed her passion for plants while working at her parents' nursery in Cromwell and graduated from Cornell’s School of Horticulture with a degree in Floriculture and Ornamental Horticulture.  She has been the Nursery Manager at White Flower Farm since 1998. Over time, she has manipulated the crop schedules in the greenhouses to use nature's energy to get sturdy, well-rooted, and properly hardened plants for customers.  A popular guest on television and radio, she is regularly interviewed and quoted as an expert in newspapers across the country.  Her encyclopedic knowledge of ornamentals and edibles mean her talks are both enormously instructive and highly entertaining.

After her presentation, Barbara took the Cherry Garden Brook club on a tour of White Flower Farm production greenhouses and explained the latest in commercial growing techniques. All photos were taken by David Kubas.
