• Joe Deko Appointed to State Legislature's Group Studying Prepaid Funeral Contracts to Protect Consumers (patch.com) — East Haven Town Council chair and local funeral home co-owner Joseph Deko has been appointed to a new Connecticut working group reviewing prepaid funeral contracts and consumer protections. Drawing on his experience in East Haven’s funeral industry, he’ll help examine contract structures, strengthen oversight, and guide how a new compensation fund can reimburse residents harmed by fraudulent pre-need arrangements.    

• East Haven Native Drafted Into Professional Women's Hockey League Team Vancouver Goldeneyes (patch.com) — An East Haven native, 22-year-old Jules Constantinople, has been drafted by the Vancouver Goldeneyes of the Professional Women’s Hockey League, going 25th overall in this year’s draft. Constantinople, a Northeastern University graduate who once skated for East Haven High School, joins a fast-growing league that’s been breaking women’s hockey attendance records.
