Bond for Enfield Arson Suspect Is Increased

A Superior Court judge reversed her decision to lower the bond for the suspect who's been custody since his arrest in March.

The bond for an Enfield arson suspect was nearly doubled on Monday after a Superior Court judge was notified that someone was trying to bail out the teen who’s accused of setting five of the 10 arsons that plagued the town over a seven-month period.

The decision is a reversal of the bond reduction that Judge Joan K. Alexander agreed to last week when the teen’s lawyer asked for a bond reduction. The bond was reduced so it would make it easier for Davidson Izzo’s family to visit him at the Manson Youth Institution in Cheshire where he is being held, according to The Courant.

When Alexander was notified Monday afternoon that a bail bondsman was trying to post bond for Izzo, the judge held a hearing and increased the $750,000 bond to $1.3 million because of the nature of the first-degree arson charges and to protect the Enfield community, according to The Courant.

Izzo was arrested in March following an extensive investigation by Enfield Police into the fires that plagued the Hazardville neighborhood of town.
