The man had been the subject of an extensive search following an altercation with his son last week, police said.

ENFIELD, CT — A man whose son was charged with beating him with a flashlight during an altercation last week was himself arrested Tuesday in connection with the incident.

Anthony Pozzato, Sr., 49, of 204 Abbe Road, was charged on a warrant with third-degree assault, second-degree breach of peace and possession of a controlled substance.

His son, Athony Pozzato, Jr., 23, was arrested Monday on similar charges, with the assault count upgraded to second-degree.

A dispute which began after the two had been drinking in the parking lot of the Big E escalated into violence when the younger Pozzato struck and bloodied his father in the head with a flashlight. The elder Pozzato ran into a nearby cornfield, and officers from local and state police, as well as a canine unit, searched unsuccessfully for him until the early morning hours of Sept. 29, Police Chief Carl Sferrazza said.

The elder Pozzato returned home around 4:30 a.m., and refused medical attention, Sferrazza said.
