Enfield Police Continue Arson Probe
Police Chief Carl Sferrazza: 'It is my expectation' an arrest will be made in the string of suspicious fires that have plagued the town.

It’s been two months since Enfield residents met with Enfield Police officials to discuss public safety in the wake of a string of arsons that damaged several vacant buildings in the Hazardville section of town.
In the wake of that Jan. 14 meeting Enfield Police have been continuing “a very active investigation” of the fires and who’s responsible for them, according to Chief Carl Sferrazza.
“We said we were going to actively investigate and put this as a priority,” Sferrazza said this week. “It is my hope and my expectation that the day will come that we can announce an arrest. That day is not today.”

Since last summer there have been at least nine suspicious fires in the Elm Street and Martin Terrace area that have damaged or destroyed homes and a barn. The last arson was Jan. 9 at 364 Elm St.
Sferrazza would not comment on the police investigation or what steps police are taking to identify whomever is responsible for the fires.

“When the investigation is completed and an arrest is made, you will understand why I don’t want to comment on that specifically,” Sferrazza said.
There’s a $2,500 reward for information that leads to an arrest.
Anyone with information on any of the fires are asked to contact the Enfield Fire Department, Police Department, or the Connecticut Arson Tip Line at 1-800-84-ARSON (27766).
