Fairfield Teen Makes Emotional Appearance at Public Safety Awards

Lee Faiga, 19, was seriously injured and placed in a medically induced coma following a May crash.

Fairfield 19-year-old Lee Faiga, who was seriously injured in a May crash, made an emotional appearance at the town’s annual Public Safety Awards event Tuesday night, according to the Fairfield Citizen.

Faiga was the passenger in a Jeep Wrangler that left Fairfield Warde around 11 a.m. on May 27 traveling at a “high rate of speed” westbound on Knapps Highway and the Jeep skidded sideways when the driver tried to turn and smashed into the utility pole, which snapped in half.

Faiga was unresponsive when Police Officer Mark Fracassini arrived on the scene, the Citizen reports, and she spent time in a medically induced coma at Yale-New Haven Hospital.
